"You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful."
~ Marie Curie
How do we build a better world? Where do we begin.
It's been said and sung many times in many ways.
Be the change you want to see...
Let it begin with me...
One
way to work for our own improvement is to feed the "good" inner wolf that I have written about lately - the one that hungers for love and all its companion qualities at the start of each day and throughout it.
My wolf has a strong taste for music and so I include some for her breakfast. Among her favorites are: Morning Has Broken, The Prayer, and You Raise Me Up.
She also responds well to candlelight, sweet scents like lavender and rose water, and
gratitude journalling. Prayer, affirmation, and intention setting are breakfast mainstays for her too.
I will tell you that, whenever I skip any aspects of my morning rituals, I do feel as if an inner hunger has not been satisfied and I am a bit more susceptible to the cunning cravings of the other wolf - the one that howls with hunger to grow hate, fear, greed and their
closely-related qualities.
We all know what activities uplift us, strengthen us, and improve us by making us more loving, hopeful and kind. Let's choose to do them.
With reverence and joy,
Charlene
PS - Tomorrow we'll reflect on the second part of Marie Curie's quote:
"...share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most
useful."
