THE PAINTER was among the vinyl records I played in the 1980s.

Lyrics from this album and others from that era often play in my mind.

The Painter played yesterday, after I read the touchstone about being artists. It reminded me that we are co-creators of our lives and co-artists of our days.

Before the above lyrics about giving light and love to the world, the prayerful song holds this request:

"Jesus,* paint my life with charity
Paint my life with mercy.
Paint my life.."

Let's ask that the canvas of our lives,

in the framework of each day,

be painted with charity and mercy

so that we may give

much needed light and love.

For a kinder world,
