“In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations."
~ Iroquois Maxim
When I looked further into yesterday's quote by Crazy Horse, I was led to a number of sites with Native American proverbs.
Many of them take a beautiful and
wise long view into the future and a wide one to embrace all creation.
For ourselves, our children, and our children's children's children and beyond, may we tap into wisdom and beauty - reverence and compassion too - and use these gifts in all our deliberations.
If we haven't given birth and perhaps have less concern for the next generations, may we nevertheless choose with loving care and respect for life and all
creation.
Nevertheless. Hmmm. Interesting word. Never the less. Never the lesser. May we always choose the greater. The greater good for all.
I believe that choosing the greater will bring unforeseen blessings to us in the here and now too.
With faith and hope,
Charlene
P.S. Let's hold this well-known, beauty-filled touchstone today too: "Humankind has not woven the web of
life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect." (Chief Seattle)
