“When we truly care for ourselves, it becomes possible to care far more profoundly about other people. The more alert and sensitive we are to our own needs, the more loving and generous we can be toward others."
~ Eda LaShan
What do you believe about
self-care?
Among the false and limiting beliefs held by many of us is that it is selfish to care for oneself. It may be a conscious belief or one that found a home in our subconsciousness based on things we heard in childhood.
I know that for a time I misunderstood what it meant to be "humble" and to be "selfless vs. selfish."
While I still believe deeply in the value and virtue of being of service and using
our time and talent to help make the world a better place, I have come to understand that I must first take care of my needs.
Of course, this is true for all of us. Not only must we first place the oxygen mask of loving self care on ourselves, when we do this we are able to care for others more profoundly.
The bottom line and intention of today's touchstone is:
May we take this quote to heart and act upon it.
Think of it like medicine for your body, mind, and spirit.
Rx: Kindly apply generous doses of loving care to yourself.
Today and every day,
