TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

“There is hope and a kind of beauty in there somewhere, if you look for it."

                 ~ H. R. Giger

I read in yesterday's Daily Word, "I can access this divine gift despite any circumstance, even amid distress."

The reflection was actually about joy and how, unlike happiness, which is dependent upon outer conditions, joy is a constant in us.

What does joy feel like when I am in distress? I wondered and searched my memories.

When I have tried to access joy in sad and troubled times, what comes to me first is a slight uplift, a budding sense of hope, a leaning toward peace. And always there is sense of beauty.

I try to remember this whenever I worry and in every kind of distress.

With all my heart - and with experience - I believe “There is hope and a kind of beauty in there somewhere, if you look for it."

Beauty is in there. And it is in you.

Always,
Charlene
