“...develop an appetite for the sweetness that is possible in this world."
~ Marianne Williamson
Renowned psychotherapist Marion Woodman
says that our “...longing for sweets is really a yearning for love or " 'sweetness.' ”
Today, let's honor what Marianne and Marion are saying by stimulating our appetites and satisfying our hungers for sweetness.
Here is a lighthearted yet meaningful way to experiment with
this.
Whenever we desire a piece of chocolate, slice of pie, scoop of ice cream, or a sweet treat of any kind - whether we satisfy that sweet tooth craving or not - let's take the desire as a sign that we are being called to offer sweet kindness to someone, or to bring some form of loving sweetness into the world, right at that
moment.
Our responses can be as simple and easy as smiling, holding the door for someone, letting a car driver merge in, making eye contact, using the name you see on the badge of the check out clerk, leaving a more-generous-than-usual tip, listening fully to the person with whom you are conversing...to name just a few possibilities.
To sum up, when we desire something sweet today let's pause and ask: What opportunity to bring sweet love into the world is present for me right now?
In closing, I am singing:
"What
the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some but for everyone."
Truly,
Charlene
