"The Tibetan Buddhists say that if the Universe were as big as the ocean, and if there were a single wooden ring floating on the surface of that ocean, the chance of getting a human
birth would be the same as the turtle surfacing with his head in the wooden ring."
~ Joan Borysenko
We don't know for sure how factual this is. And
sometimes, with all the billions of people on the planet and how the population of humans is rapidly growing, it may seem that human life coming into being is not that difficult.
On the other hand, for couples who cannot conceive or carry a baby to full term, for all who have lost a child, for all
who recently lost a loved one of any age, it is likely to feel very true that human life is precious and rare.
The touchstone message for us all today is this: May we value life. Human life. All life.
May we appreciate being here. Instead of taking life for granted today, may we live it mindfully and lovingly.
With reverence and gratitude,
Charlene
PS - Please consider being especially attentive to treating all life with care today. For example, if you
see a spider in the bathtub, choose to catch it in a cup and release it outdoors. Look for ways to see life and all creation with wonderment, awe, and great appreciation
