I believe this too. But, truthfully, I don't always live from this belief. Too often my thoughts are on the past and, even more often, on the future. And, sometimes I postpone for a future someday what my heart wants to be doing this day.
But, I'm working on this and, little by little, I am becoming more present and loyal to the callings of my heart
and soul.
How are you with this?
Besides touchstone quotes like the one above and Ram Dass' prescribed "Be here now," I hold certain memories of my mom and dad to strengthen my resolve to live mindfully and lovingly in the present day.
For example, I recall my dad's last day, which he lived happily fishing in the sunshine,
joking with his brothers, showering after dinner (he loved showers), then having a favorite evening snack: an ice cream soda. Shortly after that, he passed without warning.
My mom, on the other hand, because she had been facing cancer, knew that her last day was approaching. With that knowledge, she too made the most of living in the present day, asking God's guidance for how she might do that and what she may
learn today. She received answers and experienced deep peace.
I hope that my touchstones memories will inspire you, as they do me, toward living with greater awareness and appreciation for each precious day.
You may wish to pause and recall one or more of your own touchstone memories that move you toward greater living and loving.
To today. May we live it mindfully. May we live it well.
With
joy,
Charlene
PS - And may there be many more!
