True, we are not always happy. And we have sometimes mistakenly looked for happiness outside of ourselves.
Many of us are coming to believe and to sense that the light of joy is always
within.
But like a silver tray not polished for many years will be covered with a built up of tarnish, the light of joy within can become covered with layers of regrets and resentments.
Even just a short time of no polishing will result in the beginning of tarnish.
Today, whether our joy seems covered or not, may we polish our hearts and souls with a soft
cloth of loving kindness and forgiveness and let the light of joy sparkle and shine through.
Of course, there are times when we are not tarnished at all; the light of joy is simply covered for a time with natural clouds of grief.
