Mindful Meditation is deliberately paying attention, usually to one’s own breathing. Attention is put on the movement of the abdomen when breathing in and out, and on the awareness of the breath as it goes in and out the nostrils.
But Mindful Meditation can also be paying attention with care to eating, listening to music, listening to another person speaking, washing dishes… anything and everything.
In our community group, we’ll be mostly practicing mindful breathing, but we will also be experiencing other mindful activities, such as eating one raisin, walking, and drinking tea.
Paying attention with care and being more present in all that we do will cultivate deeper love, compassion, reverence, joy...all our inner gifts and resources.
So consider doing at least one thing in a mindful way today. Instead of taking a shower,
making a bed, dressing, drinking a cup of coffee, or driving your car in the usual way - with hardly any attention - treat the activity as if you are doing it for the first time. Perhaps, if you are not already meditating, you'll try mindful breathing too.
May we slow down and savor the beauty of life.
For greater peace and well-being,
Charlene
