As we near a new year, may we begin to renew our dreams, including those that seem far fetched or behind us.
When I hear someone say "It's too late" or I start to think that way myself, I remember my touchstone friend, Kay, who pursued every one of her life dreams even though she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. While she made not have been able to do everything
as she first visualized it, she found a way to get as near as possible. For example, although she could not join the actual Peace Corps, she found a way to fulfill the essence of that dream by joining a mission group that was building a church, school, hospital and some homes in Puerto Rico. Incidentally, Kay is still pursuing old dreams and new ones more than 15 years after that diagnosis.
With faith and hope for the future, let's consider these words from Ella Fitzgerald too:
"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do."
Amen I say.
