"Hope, I began to realize, was not a state of life. It was...a gift of life."
~ Joan Chittister
Along with Sister Joan's words, one of my favorite quotes about hope is Vaclav Havel's, "Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.
It seems to me that hope is a gift that runs deep and wide in our hearts
and souls. On the surface, hope is wishing and expecting the best. And, in the depths, hope trusts whatever is unfolding. There, hope lets go and is carried on streams on faith.
Why not appreciate and use this powerful gift at all levels and places we find it...seated in the heart, as Caren Goldman says, and perched in the soul, as Emily Dickinson says?
May hope fill our hearts, souls, and thoughts
today.
For health, happiness, and peace,
Charlene
