TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

"We may not always understand where we are going, or what's being worked out in us, but we can trust that something good is happening."

                                     ~ Melody Beattie

Do you believe this? I want to.

Whenever I doubt, I think of my mom near the end of her life.

During those last weeks, my mom often said, "Oh," and, "I see." Although my mom didn't share what she saw, she conveyed a lot with a few words, facial expressions, and gestures. For example, several times, while her hands moved as if she were putting together an invisible puzzle, she said, "Everything is falling into place, Charlene."

I never learned exactly what my mom saw, but I saw her peace-filled response to it. I got the impression that she was seeing scenes from her life within a new context, one that showed her meanings within previous conflicts, confusions, and hurtful situations.

The memory of that always strengthens my resolve to trust in what is unfolding.

And the goodness of life,

Charlene

HOPE. Through each passage and season, may you trust in the goodness of life.
