"We need to feel the cheer and inspiration of meeting each other."
~ Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin
When I
came upon this quote yesterday, I connected it with the film The Hundred-Foot Journey, which my husband and I watched the previous day.
It you haven't seen it yet yourself, in a nutshell, the movie shows the beauty and benefit of crossing a street - a chasm of just one hundred feet - to embrace the food, decor, music, and practices of another culture.
All too often we let fear of differences close our minds and hearts. Hurt often divides us
too.
Today, let's look for ways to cross divides and to reach out and greet one another so that we may be cheered and inspired. Healed and uplifted too.
With reverence and joy,
Charlene
PS - Sometimes the crossing is simply across the room. Let's re-meet family, friends, co-workers - anyone we have closed ourselves off from - with a willingness to understand.
