I think that Gilda was encouraging us to not let things like cancer diagnoses, or life challenges of any kind, bring us to a place of despair nor to judging life as unfair.

Live! Live! she seems to be saying, while you still have the gift of life.
Nurture your spirit, let creativity fly, and be beautifully you in the midst of all that life brings.
