“The most difficult times for many of us
are the ones we
give ourselves.”
― Pema Chodron
This has been true for me. How about you?
I'm sending a second touchstone today. It's about this issue.
The message that arrived in your inbox at 5 AM gave me an opportunity to share an example.
I'm a recovering perfectionist who is making progress. When I saw my email in my own inbox, the first thing I noticed was the mistake in the first word in the title. It was misspelled. The second thing I noticed was my reaction. In the past, I would have felt sick to my stomach.
I admit I didn't like seeing the spelling error, but I was not nauseated. I could even say, "Darn. Oh well. I should be sleeping at midnight, not working. I'll do better at getting to bed earlier."
Today, along with looking for beauty and goodness, let's judge less and love more.
Pema Chodron suggests practicing "unconditional
friendliness" toward ourselves and others.
Let's try it today. Unconditional Friendliness.
Let's do our best.
With love,
Charlene
