“This is the season
when people of all faiths and cultures
are pushing back against the planetary darkness.
We string bulbs, ignite bonfires, and light candles."
—Anita Diamant
The darkest day of the year is near. Depression is deepened for many among us during this time. Perhaps, for
us.
But on December 21, right after the Winter Solstice at 10:03 a.m., we begin to gain more sunlight. Little by little, our days in the northern hemisphere will become brighter.
Along with stringing bulbs and lighting candles, we can bring more light into
the world. Right now. For ourselves. For everyone.
Practicing courtesy, showing kindness, and sharing smiles are simple and easy ways we can bring light into the darkness.
Love's Light. Hope's Light. Joy's Light.
They are always within us, even if they seem dimmed. Let's
shine them as best we can, and be ready to receive light from surprising places.
With love,
Charlene
