"Our world seems to have lost
all sense of reverence.
We seldom even use the word anymore.
The notion of reverence is
full of riches
that we now need desperately."
~ John O'Donohue
Reverence is more than bowed heads,
bent knees, and hushed voices.
Its riches include wonder and
awe,
gratitude and joy,
enthusiasm for life,
and seeing the world
with delight,
the way we did when we were children,
and, of course, love.
According to Albert Schweitzer,
reverence contains all the highest qualities in us.
Just as white light
contains all the colors,
reverence contains
all the aspects of goodness and positivity.
Reverence is like a rainbow in the way
a rainbow contains all the colors
Many of us are delighted every time we see a rainbow.
At times we are even in awe,
especially when we see one appear
after a storm.
Rainbows are a sign of hope.
as well as a symbol of reverence.
When we see one, let’s be encouraged
to trust the goodness of life
and be reminded
to renew our wonder and awe
and cultivate the full gift of reverence within us
With love and joy,
Charlene
