"A single act of kindness
is like a drop of oil on a patch of dry skin
- seeping, spreading, and affecting
more than the original need."
- Richelle E.
Goodrich
Along with caring in our thoughts, prayers, and feelings, life needs more from us now. We need more too.
Our culture, our country, the world - We are like a whole body of dry skin, with tense muscles, and an aching heart. We need the precious oil and healing balm of kindness to seep into us and
spread among us.
Some good news - Every one of us can help. In fact, we are all needed for giving and receiving kindness.
We have many challenges. Courtesies and smiles alone won't solve all the problems we face, but kindness lifts us to higher ground where we can better see, understand, and find what is needed.
Even looking at people in a way that conveys we see their dignity has the potential to soften hardness, soothe stress, ease hurt, and build strength. It nurture our individual spirits and renew our spirit of unity, too.
May our minds and hearts be opened to embrace the power of kindness and express it through courtesy, respect, empathy, and assistance in millions of ways.
With love, faith, and reverence for all creation,
Charlene
