"Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked,
while the bamboo or willow survives
by bending with the wind."
-Bruce Lee
Dear
Friends,
First, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Let's keep those up for one another.
No matter how strong and well prepared we are for extreme weather or a storm in our lives, sometimes we have to evacuate, climb to the
roof, seek shelter in a basement, or meet the challenge in a way we never could have imagined until it was needed. Fortunately, wondrously, with grace, the inspiration and guidance we need in a particular moment does come to us in many moments of life. If you think it does not happen for you, watch more closely now and be ready to remember a past time you were lovingly protected.
Rather than elaborate on the wisdom of forming deep roots and keeping open spaces in our minds and hearts - we already know this - I want to express appreciation for the faith, trust, and the hope we all have within us to face any adversity.
The photo was one of the shots I took while, before dawn, with flashlights in hand, my husband and I surveyed the area around our home after Milton had passed through. In semi darkness, we saw a large amount of tree limbs, branches, and leaves. But the main concern and sense of loss for me was seeing one arbor down and this one
leaning.
Compared to all the severe damage that occurred in widespread areas - from both Helene and Milton - the impact on us was minor. In fact, our clean up is almost done, and the arbors are back up.
Now, let's pitch in and help those who need help now and become more caring, kind, and helpful to each other.
Let's also keep deepening our roots and opening our minds and hearts to life.
With love and reverence,
Charlene
