"I discovered windows one afternoon
and after that,
nothing was ever the same.”
-Anne
Spollen
One magnificent fall afternoon in 1974, I heard the words "Hope's Windows" on my car radio while I was driving through golden foliage in western New York. Like Anne Spollen discovering windows, I have not been the same since.
The name immediately mesmerized me. I began to collect quotes and stories about hope and ways we can open ourselves to the hope that is within us. I've been collecting photos and taking pictures of windows since then too.
I took this photo while touring the Villa Zorayda Museum in St. Augustine, Florida this past weekend.
For me, this photo represents how, when we are in a dark place, hope - like a
window - can give us light, show us beauty, and remind us that there is a greater reality beyond the little room or dismal situation we feel stuck in at times.
Like a window in a wall, hope allows us to see through obstacles to possibilities in that
greater reality.
Today, let's admire windows, appreciate hope, and keep our minds and hearts open to Hope's Windows.
With love,
Charlene
