"You are
...flawed. And you are beautiful."
-Amy Bloom
Sea Legs is my nickname for a young sea grape tree with a trunk that resembles the weary legs of an old
woman.
Sea Legs also reminds me of a certain young girl wearing stockings and low heels for the first time, feeling excited and yet uncertain and uncomfortable (That was before panty hose was invented.)
Seeing this tree in the Sanibel garden always touched my heart, in part because "she" suggested vulnerability, and yet "she" was strong and hardy, as sea grape trees are known to be.
Everything in nature offers lessons. This one is simple. Regardless of age, at
any age, we have vulnerabilities and strengths. We have flaws and beauty. Let's aim to fully accept and respect ourselves and one another, as we are.
With love,
Charlene
