“If we're patient and wait for the larger context to reveal
itself, eventually all the pieces fit together and make sense in an awe-inspiring way."
- Penny Peirce
This seemed to happen for my mom near the end of her life. There was something powerful in the way she uttered, "Oh," several times during her last few weeks on Earth. She
also said, "I see" and even "Everything is falling into place, Charlene."
I got the sense that my mom was seeing
scenes from her life in ways that showed meaning, brought healing, and gave peace.
Sometimes when I look back, I wonder why I didn't ask her to explain, but then I remember how it
seemed to me that something personal, private, and sacred was happening within her, and I should honor it.
This memory of my mom, while nurturing my hope and faith, supports my belief that, on some level, the pieces of our lives are always in place and that someday we shall "see."
In the meantime, I aim to trust what is unfolding.
May we all trust.
With
love,
Charlene
