Anne experienced horrors. Yet she maintained her belief in inherent goodness. She even glimpsed a ray, a spark of it at times. Perhaps she could believe in goodness and perceive a light of it in the darkness because she valued goodness highly, and the goodness in her was vibrant. 

We do all have faults and shortcoming. And some are deeply hurt and lose regard for goodness. Some reject it and go astray. 

I believe hurts can be healed, the lost can find their way, and, to keep goodness bright and vibrant, we need to refresh it often and nurture it daily.
