"It's good to remember that in crises, natural crises,
human beings forget for awhile their ignorances, their biases, their prejudices.
For a little while, neighbors help neighbors and strangers help
strangers."
- Maya Angelou
Whenever we feel disheartened about humanity, let's remember the natural goodness we see in times of trouble. Natural disasters have a way of bringing it out
Some may argue that, during such times, we also
see people seeking personal benefits, taking advantage of chaos. But the outpourings of empathy and the legions of helpers are so much greater.
We can also recall the hopeful perspective of others. Anne Frank, for example. "Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart," she wrote.
Finally, let's notice the goodness in one another in all times. Let's
nourish and help bring it out too. Every day.
With love,
Charlene
