"Let us fill our hearts with our own compassion.
- towards ourselves and towards all living beings."
-Thich Nhat Hahn
Today, may we seek peace.
Life on earth can be hard. We experience pain in our bodies, in our hearts, and in our relationships.
We can get stuck in regrets, resentments,
feelings of unworthiness, guilt, anger, frustration, rage, and despair.
Over time we sometimes develop hard shells or sharp edges of loathing to protect ourselves. We can develop habits of looking for what's wrong in every situation and every person. But this only leads to more hurts. It can even lead to war.
We can stop this madness. We must.
We can heal and experience loving instead of loathing.
Healing may not happen in the blink of a miracle - although it's possible - but we move toward it as we reach for compassion.
Whether or not we can identify with the dis-ease of fault-finding, every one of us can benefit from filling ourselves with more and more compassion.
One place to find our compassion is within the heart of the child we once were.
That child had much to learn and yet knew so much coming into this world. That child was vulnerable yet powerfully loving. And, that child lives within us, still.
Connecting with and caring for our inner child can lead us to the depths of compassion. And when we are filled with compassion, anything is possible. Everything is possible.
Peace is possible.
Truly,
Charlene
THE FOURTH GIFT IS COMPASSION.
May you be gentle with yourself and others.
May you forgive those who hurt you
and yourself when you make mistakes.
