“A beautiful thing is never perfect."
- Egyptian Proverb
This proverb brings polished stones to mind. For the past 25 years, I have carried
polished stones with me. Sometimes I have a small handful in my purse. Sometimes just one or two in my pocket. Sometimes it is a big fishbowl full I bring to events.
As much as I can, I offer a stone to everyone I encounter. Each stone is meant to be a keepsake symbol of the message in my book, The Twelve Gifts of Birth, and a reminder of three
lessons from the polished stones themselves.
Lesson One. For the times we may feel like a plain, dull, worthless rock - a polished stones is meant to remind us of the strength, beauty, and value inside
us.
Lesson Two. Like polished stones, we come in many shapes, colors, and sizes, and, like polished stones, we are all beautiful and valuable.
Lesson Three. When we look closely at a beautiful polished stone, we will notice a scratch, a nick, or a rough spot. Polished stones are not
perfect. Nor are we. Nevertheless, we are strong, beautiful, and valuable.
May we remember these three lessons. And may we recognize our own strength and beauty, and help others to see theirs.
With love,
Charlene
THE ELEVENTH GIFT IS LOVE.
It will grow each
time you give it away.
