“It’s not what you look at that matters.
It’s what you see.”
– Henry David Thoreau
What we choose to look at matters too, especially since what we see is influenced by what we look for and what we expect to
see.
As I write this, it is September 28, the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ian hitting SW Florida. Most hard hit was Sanibel Island. I want to use the conditions on Sanibel now as an example of Today's Touchstone
On Sanibel, so much has been restored.
Nature, especially, has shown her amazing healing power. So much more need to be done, however. It's possible to see Sanibel with gratitude and hope or with discouragement and no hope.
This is true for everything in our lives, everything in the world.
Wherever
you are today, wherever you go, whatever you do, consider what you are looking for, what you expect to see.
Let's look for beauty, goodness, strength, kindness, hope, joy...Let's reach in and bring these into the world today too. They are in our hearts and souls.
Always,
Charlene
PS - I took this simple photo of a stunning red leaf in the garden at Sanibel Moorings in 2015. Although that garden, as it was, is gone, it remains very much within my memory and my heart. All the best things in our
lives are in our hearts. Let's be grateful for them and continue to be nourished by them.
THE FIFTH GIFT IS HOPE.
Through each passage and season,
may you trust the goodness of life.
