“It takes courage to grow up
and become who you really are."
- e.e. cummings
It takes patience too, as well as love and self-compassion.
A few people seem to know at a young age what they are meant to do and who they are becoming. Even who they already are.
But most do not.
I remember a span of time when many of us adult women said, "I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up."
We laughed with one another. But there was truth in our joking. Wisdom too.
Even when we feel we know, there is always more for us to discover. "Growing up" continues into our elder years.
Through all the years of our lives, may we remain open to learning and growing.
May we be kind, loving, and patient during the times we don't know.
Through all times, may we be honest and authentic. It takes courage to be real. Courage that we have.
Always,
Charlene
