"The dream of my life
Is to lie down by a slow river
And stare at the light in the
trees--
And to learn something
by being nothing a little while
but the rich lens of attention."
—Mary Oliver
Today's touchstone is an invitation to enter the State of Being. To get there we don't need to plan, pack, or travel. The cost? It's free. And freeing.
Like Mary Oliver, for a little while let's do nothing other than be attentive human be-ings.
Even if it is only five minutes, let's take some time to simply be.
Ideally, go outdoors. If you can lie down under a tree, near water- wonderful. Wherever you are, simply look, listen, smell, feel. Let your senses connect you with the natural world.
Notice the beauty of dappled light, clouds, bird calls, the sound of rain, the scent of grass, sunrises and sunsets, stars, the moon...
If we do this every day, after a time, we will have moments when we feel, not apart from, but a part of nature, a part of all creation.
With gratitude and
awe,
Charlene
