"Look at your feet. You are
standing in the sky.
When we think of the sky,
we tend to look up,
but the sky actually begins at the earth.
We walk through it, yell into it,
rake leaves, wash the dog, and drive cars in it.
We breathe it deep within us.
With every breath, we inhale millions of molecules of sky,
heat them briefly, and then exhale them back into
the world.”
- Diane Ackerman
Have you ever thought of the sky this way? I suspect few of us have, until now.
Well, right now, instead of thinking that the sky is "up there, far away," let's consider Diane Ackerman's perspective. With it, you are I are in the sky always...except for when we're in a cave or
swimming under water, I suppose.
Now and then let's remember this point of view. We can use it when we are feeling light-hearted as well as when we are feeling a need to think outside-the box-in order to face a challenge, solve a problem, or be creative.
Why do this?
It
can be very wise, helpful, and powerful to stretch our thinking and strengthen our abilities to see situations and events differently than how we usually do.
It can be fun, playful, and healthful too.
So let's stretch!
With hope and joy,
