​​​​​​​History-in-the-making can sometimes appear to be spiraling downward. But is it? 

Sociologist Kelley Miller says, "I see that the path of progress has never taken a straight line, but has always been a zigzag course amid the conflicting forces of right and wrong, truth and error, justice and injustice, cruelty and mercy."  

 
Whenever we feel discouraged about the world, let's remember the zig zag course that improvements of any kind often take. Let's also envision a peaceful, healthy world and choose to help create it using our time and talent. Our strength, courage, wisdom and compassion too.
