“Some think kindness is a sign of weakness and that a person must be blunt and forceful if they want to be strong. To me, real strength is the ability not to retaliate and not to attack when provoked."
- Edward Viljoen
Rev. Viljoen makes a distinction between genuine kindness and pretend kindness.
Authenticity requires strength of character, so kindness that is real carries strength and is a sign of strength.
On the other hand, pretending, being false about caring - or about anything - weakens us.
Perhaps when some people see kindness as a sign of weakness, what they are seeing as weak is the inauthenticity.
Let's aim to be authentic and kind. Let's aim to be strong in character, strong in every way.
So be it,
Charlene
