“Joy is not in things; it is in us." - Richard Wagner
Sometimes, joy seems to be in the air
too.
It usually happens on balmy days. But it's more than just good weather conditions. The air seems to hold well-being and a promise of good things to come. Know
what I mean?
On such days, people smile more than usual. Many little courtesies take place. Remember such a day?
I wonder: Can we help make such days happen?
Try with me?
I imagine starting with a morning we wake up.
Great start! I'm joking a bit, but I'm serious. We take waking up for granted. Let's give thanks for it. And for the gift of another
day.
Before going further, let's tap into sincere gratitude for this or for something else. Gratitude must be authentic for it to open windows and doors to joy and other
valuable things.
Next, let's welcome the day, ready to embrace all that it
holds.
By now we notice feeling a bit more alive. We stand a little straighter. We
smile for no reason.
Little by little or all at once, our gratitude grows into a flow of love and a burst of joy. It's so strong that a part of us wants to laugh. Another wants to cry.
(We may do both. I often do when I'm filled with joy.)
We feel as if we've awakened from a long sleep, refreshed with greater clarity and renewed with new insights.
It becomes a day with enormous potential for healing, peace-making, finding solutions to problems and for finding our way. For miracles
too.
Imaginative? Yes.
But, in truth, every day holds such
potential.
Let's recognize that and welcome this day. May we intend to live it well. Now let's open our minds and hearts and see what happens.
With joy,
Charlene
