"Often when you think you're at the end of something,
you're at the beginning of something else."
-Fred Rogers
This flower, the Brunfelsia Pauciflora, commonly known as "Yesterday-Today-and-Tomorrow" and "Past-Present-and
Future," is a favorite of mine.
I was frequently drawn to the Brunsfelsia bushes blooming profusely along several pathways in the Sanibel Moorings garden. I'm fond of their changing shades of deep purple, blue, pink, and white as each bloom progresses through its life span of about three days.
Our human life span is longer, but we too have a past, a present, and a future. And, like these flowers - like
all living things - we actually live in the present.
Our thoughts, however, often drift to past memories and future imaginings, sometimes with anxieties and regrets.
Let's instead look to the past with compassion, receptive to wisdom. Let's also realize and appreciate the perpetual endings and beginnings in every moment.
Looking to the future, let's color our imaginings with trust, and confident courage.
And now - in every now - let's keep our minds focused
and hearts opened to love. May we choose to be loving in every moment of choice.
Always,
Charlene
