"Hope smiles from the threshold of the
year to come, whispering, 'It will be happier.'" - Alfred Lord Tennyson
Such a promising quote. Imagine: Hope, refreshed and smiling, ushing us into the new year with a brightened outlook.
Can you imagine hope "smiling?" Not like a human being, of course, but perhaps like a flower?
I can almost sense a kind of smiling joy in the plumeria that blooms in my garden. Its opened petals and sweet scent hold nourishment for souls, comfort for hurting hearts, and upliftment for discouraged perspectives - as does hope.
Hope is not only out there waiting for us. Hope is always within us. But sometimes it gets weary. Hope seems to have been depleted among many of us in recent years.
The good news is we can prepare ourselves for more positivity and peace in the new year with refreshed hope.
One way to refresh hope is to practice gratitude for everything that we genuinely appreciate.
Little by little, sincere gratitude will lead to revitalized joy, which is very near refreshed and renewed hope.
Another way is to practice kindness and forgiveness for ourselves and
others.
Joy. Compassion. Love. Beauty. Imagination. Wisdom. Call upon any one of the noble qualities and hope will come along, renewed and refreshed for 2023.
Let's meet on the threshold, smiling!
With love and hope,
Charlene
