In front of Jerry's Market on Sanibel Island a few years ago, I saw a white dove, holding a twig in its beak. For me, that twig resembled and symbolized a stem of peace.

It was right before Christmas; I had a lot on my mind and a lot to do. 

The moment I noticed the dove, the bird seemed to look right into my eyes. Suddenly I felt peace. I experienced wonderment too. That little bird was like an angel in disguise. 

I always feel a sense of awe, along with gratitude, when I experience we humans taking turns at being the recipient of a life-guiding message and being the carrier. 

Today, let's be open-minded and open-hearted, ready to receive what we need. Sometimes our guiding message is delivered in a book, sometimes we see it on a billboard, and sometimes a bird or other animal conveys to us a message we need to consider.

Let's also be ready to be a message carrier.
