"I like the thought that what we are to do on this earth is embellish it for its greater beauty, so that oncoming generations can look back to the shapes we
leave here and get the same thrill that I get in looking back at the Parthenon, at Chartres Cathedral." - Philip Johnson
Like Philip Johnson - and the millions of people who visit Athens each year - I was thrilled to see the Parthenon.
A few weeks ago, while standing in awe of that amazing relic of ancient Greece, those long ago years and the people who lived back then suddenly felt
quite real. Being present at the Parthenon brought the history I had studied alive.
Human beings, very much like us, walked and talked right here. They laughed, cried and felt every emotion we feel.
Among the ways we can enrich this earth with greater beauty is to recognize that we are all connected in one human family and to care for
one another.
With love,
Charlene
