"We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses."
- Abraham Lincoln."
The Silk Floss Tree and some people I know are like the rose bush: thorny yet beautiful, beautiful yet thorny.
I imagine you know people like this too.
Perhaps, at times, you and I are among them. No matter how beautiful and sweet we are, sometimes we show a picky, pointy, prickly side. I admit I do.
May the rose bush, the Silk Floss Tree, and today's touchstone quote remind us that we have a choice in the way we respond to plants and to people. To all of life.
Rejoice or complain? Complain or rejoice?
Today, let's aim to focus on beauty and rejoice.
With love,
Charlene
PS - In my book, The Twelve Gifts from the Garden, on page 31, you can find a true story that demonstrates shifting from complaining to rejoicing about a loved one. Interesting facts and a myth about this tree are offered there too. ushes have roses"
