"Hope fills the holes of my frustration in my heart."
~ Emanuel Cleaver
I'm pretty sure we all have some holes in our hearts. What do we do
about them?
Emanuel Cleaver says hope fills the holes in his heart.
I try to envision that and laugh at the first picture that comes to mind. Hope is not a spackle-like substance; and the holes in our hearts are not stuffed and sealed shut like wall holes.
But then a flute comes to mind. Yes. Perhaps our heart holes are like the holes in a flute. And hope is like breath, life-giving, music-making breath.
There are many poetic descriptions and definitions of hope.
Today, let's imagine hope as the Breath of Spirit moving through our hearts, using the holes of hurt and frustration to create the beauty-full music of compassion and courage, wisdom, love, joy, and
faith.
Let's be in tune.
With hope,
Charlene
