Dear Friends,
Something about this morning has drawn me in to deeper reflection on the proverb: "The flowers of all tomorrows are in the seeds of today."
Today IS like a seed; it holds so much potential. How can we help the potential in us to be realized?
I just found this about seeds: "By soaking seeds, you can boost the moisture content around them, which signals to the seed that it is safe to grow."
"Safe to grow." Hmm. What if we "soak" a day with love, hope and joy? First, I'm certain it makes a difference in how we experience the day. Second, perhaps soaking it with love and other high qualities before it gets planted in nighttime sleep helps the best within us sprout safely and swiftly.
Truly, how we live this day will affect the current chapter of our lives and our whole life story. Also by nurturing and planting our own, seemingly-small positive seeds, I believe that, one-by-one yet together, we can grow vast fields of healing compassion and transformational hope for our communities, countries, and the
world.
I think I'm especially sensitive and contemplative today because I've learned of a death. Patti was the younger sister of one of my best friends in high school. I'm reminded of the saying: "The days can seem long but the years are short."
We are not here on Earth forever.
No matter the "weather" outside and inside us. Whether or not a day brings what we wish, why not embrace it with love and compassion - courage too, when needed - and appreciate the opportunity to experience it?
THE ELEVENTH GIFT IS LOVE.
It will grow each time you give it away.
