"A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill
except for learning how to grow in rows."
- Doug Larson
What is a weed, anyway? "A plant whose virtues have never been discovered," said Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Actually, many of their virtues have been know for a long time. But they've been forgotten or not appreciated. Many so-called weeds are nutritious and medicinal. Besides being valuable in those ways, their tenacity and strength can be inspirational models for us.
So, besides wisely and courageously resisting conformity when something is not in accord with our true nature, let's be strong and determined, like weeds.
Let's also be like blooming weeds - wildflower weeds - that reach for the sky, lean toward the sun, and swirl in the wind as if they are dancing with joy and beauty.
May this perspective on weeds remind us to avoid judging people as if they are useless weeds. Every person, every living thing, has valuable qualities.
Truly,
Charlene
