"If you're at the end of your rope...untie the knot in your heart."
- Cooper Edens
There are many quotes about being at the end of our rope. Most include something about a knot. They all offer something worth considering.
For example, FDR said: "When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on."
I know from experience that this holds practical encouragement. Hanging on with strength and hope can help see us through. Haven't we all done this at times?
I like Cooper Edens' quote best because it touches me in a deeper way.
As we approach a place that seems like an end of possible solutions, an end of what we can possibly bear, we react with fear and anxiety. Our jaw, our shoulders, our stomach, many places in our body tighten. In fact, our whole body can tighten, including our hearts.
At such times, we are best served by keeping ourselves open to guidance, to creativity, to forgiveness, to healings, to new beginnings. It is always powerful and wise to keep our hearts open.
Let's do that today, whether or not we are at the end of our rope. Let's keep our hearts open.
Always with love, compassion, and hope
